10 REASONS WHY MANY PEOPLE FAIL TO REALIZE THEIR NEW YEAR RESOLUTIONS (PART 1)
Why most people fail to realize their New Year Resolutions or Maximize their potential.
As people start the new year they have been socialized into a post great depression culture of setting new resolutions. A New Year's resolution is a tradition, most common in the Western Hemisphere but also found in the Eastern Hemisphere, in which a person resolves to change an undesired trait or behavior, to accomplish a personal goal or otherwise improve their life.
We are at the end of the second month and most people have already lost the excitement and motivation they had when the year began a couple of weeks ago. Some do not even get to set new year resolutions because they have failed to see them through and given up on the idea. What are some of the reasons why we mostly fail to realize goals we set for ourselves and new year resolutions mainly.
1. Misconception of changes in years
Most people assume that the coming of a new year brings with it new things and things will change by themselves. l wonder why they do not learn from the many years of experience that they have been through. The greatest ever definition of insanity ever to get to people is that which describes it as doing the same things and yet expecting different results.
A new year does not bring anything with it but just psychological opportunities for
a. Recuperation
b. Refocus and gathering
c. Strategy formulation and planning
d. Evaluation
This energy that comes with the turn of seasons is always not strong enough to turn lives and fortunes on its own. It is usually enough to get people excited and get them going but not enough to bring success.
2. The current prophetic phenomenon that is contrary to the Kingdom approach to life.
Religion cannot be left out in why people fail to realize their new year resolutions. Most churches start the new year with prophetic themes and prophetic words that come with promises of many blissful things coming with the new year. Many of such approaches lack the follow up of how the people are to respond to the word and what they are do as a faith response to the word. Many then wait to see the new things that the new year would bring which never come and they postpone it to the year that follows. The approach that religion has taken has been making people to expect to receive from deity while they do nothing. This idea applies to salvation when people are to be saved through faith and faith alone. On regaining a true identity through new birth God is willing to work together with his sons and daughters.
The true approach of the Kingdom of God is about changing our way of thinking and approach life differently with enlightenment of a different way of life that comes by exposure to heavenly realities. I have learnt from this higher kingdom that,
“It’s not prophecy, vision or your ream that takes you to your destiny but it’s the attitude that it creates in you that helps you to fight your way to destiny.”
The religion that will help and liberate people is the one that will embrace the idea captured in the words of John Wesley who said “Without God, man cannot. Without man, God will not." God intends man to participate in bringing the solutions that people are praying for. He is more interested to use the person who prays in bringing the solution and this is what the first Century Apostle had in mind when he said,
“God can do anything; you know — far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us. Ephesians 3: 20 THE MESSAGE]”
3. Failure to acknowledge the potential principle
While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease. [Genesis 8:22]
Majority of the people have not understood that God by original design works with the principle of the seed. Think of it this way, whatever you want in life is a harvest. Take success, your dream, goal, vision as a harvest. Take a good marriage, successful business, spiritual growth, dream career, health, personal development goal, financial goal as the harvest that you want.
Life gets better when you understand these things as the harvests and you know that God does
not give you these as a finished product but we get them as seeds in the form of ideas, desires,
aspirations, prophecies and expectations then we put work and effort and exchange with our
time to get the harvest.
The principle of the seed is the same principle as the principle of potential. The large sums of money you desire to have are already inside of you in potential form as ideas, businesses or little sums of money that await you managing them and growing them with time and effort. We have the potential to have fruitful and worthwhile relationships but they wait for us to working to realize the growth in potential. Instead of looking out for what we desire to have its better to check at what you already have that can be managed and cultivated to grow and become the solution to what we need.

4. Not putting enough time or quality time to the things that matter
Look carefully then how you walk! Live purposefully and worthily and accurately, not as the unwise and witless, but as wise (sensible, intelligent people), Making the very most of the time [buying up each opportunity], because the days are evil. [Ephesians 5: 15-16 Amplified Bible]
Everything that is worthwhile costs a great deal amount of time and everyone that you look up to has traded their time to be where they are. Commitment to a relationship is measured with time; we see what you love by the amount of time you invest to it. People fail to realize their new year resolutions or maximize their potential because they do no invest enough time to the things that are important. How much time do you put to your goals and resolutions?
Time is the most important resource to maximize any form of potential. The wiser have discovered that they don't have enough of it to reach their goals and they buy it. By buying time, l am not talking of the illusion of the fools who think when they occupy themselves with something not important as they wait for a certain time to do something then they are buying it. This is deception; they are actually trading for loss.
Buying time is to use material and renewable resources to buy other people's time and use it to achieve your goals. When you employ someone you are paying renewable resources to get to use their time to achieve your goals. When you read a book you are buying the time that they used to acquire and research for that kind of information.
The other time buying dimension that is crucial in maximizing potential is what I call expertise time. We need to buy expertise time by seeking mentors, coaches, consultants and experts of the things we are pursuing. Buy books and material of experts in your field of interest if you cannot afford the services of the experts. Get the services of a Coach or a mentor by contacting Coach Tarie on the details below.

5. Consistency
One of the greatest definitions of success that I have come across is one from Jim Rohn who said,
“Success is neither mystical nor magical but a natural consequence of consistently applying the basic fundamentals.”
Most people lack character required for success in patience to consistently do what matters most. People start the year with new goals and resolutions and resolve to take specific actions which they follow for a little while and fade off along the way. Success is a product of habit. How do you move from one place to another? Is it not that you consistently move your left and right legs one step at a time. Show me a master in any aspect and I will show you someone who has been consistently doing simple but important things. Consistency is what separates success and failure. You don’t keep to what is important only when it feels good. Every day is never the same and we don’t have the same energy levels every day. Most people fail to maximize their potential and realize their resolutions because they fail to stick to it.
Who could say it better than Joshua’s mentor who mentored him to be one of the greatest leaders in Ancient Hebraic history.
This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. [Joshua 1:8]
