PROPHETIC INSIGHT INTO THE FUTURE OF ZIMBABWE'S LEADERSHIP
PROPHETIC INSIGHT INTO THE FUTURE OF ZIMBABWE'S LEADERSHIP
"You know that those who
are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high
officials exercise authority over them. Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants
to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first
must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to
serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many." [Mark 10:42-45]
What
is happening in Zimbabwe? Why is there political unrest? Is there hope for our
children? Zimbabwe is a country that after 1980 independence had so much
potential in Africa. Nationalist policies were implemented in a quest for
provision of social services that many blacks were deprived of during the
colonial era including education and health for all. With so much government
expenditure in education and health by the end of the 1980s, things were no
longer sustainable and on approaching the IMF for assistance, Economic Structural
Adjustment Program (ESAP) was the recommendation.
ESAP
doing more harm than good followed by land reform that created a bad image of
the country on the international scene followed by economic sanctions on the
nation and the global economic crisis saw the nation deteriorate on many
facets. Many factors internal and external also came into play from governance,
policies and implementation issues all building towards the present day status.
The social contract that had been established by the sacrificial exploits of
the Chimurenga and post-independence nationalist policies that gave people
access to what they were deprived of during the political era came to a place
of testing. By Social contract I mean the legitimacy that the government had in
the minds of the people as they saw the leaders as worthy of leading them.
In
the Second decade of the new millennium things have changed and there is so
much political instability even in the ruling party that has been leading the
nation for over three decades. Just in the 1st half of this year
2016 alone we have witnessed a massive resistance to most new policies and initiatives
that the government has tried to implement including the introduction of Bond
Notes, The National Pledge and Import Ban. We are seeing the rising of many
Activist movements and demonstrations.
People
seem to have lost confidence in the government as the media and social network
platforms portray allegations of the government having broken the social
contract. Any policy, no matter how good, seems to be receiving massive
resistance and public rejection. Opposition forces and Activist groupings are
criticizing every initiative and disregarding whatever comes from the
government and is becoming evident that the public is becoming opposition by
default.
What
does the government has to do to regain trust amoung citizens? The only way
that the government has to regain trust is by a clear demonstration of passion.
This has to be done by sacrifice,…..sacrificing what they have for restoring the
nation. With many claims and allegation of mismanagement of resources (the
story of the missing 15billion as one of the stories of public outcry) and
corruption which I will define as the use of public resources, goods and
services for private gain, the leaders have to demonstrate great deals of
sacrifice. Sacrificing comfort, sacrificing benefits, cutting down on some
luxuries and expenses and even going to the extent of using some of the private
owned resources for the rebuilding of the nation. This would be a clear
demonstration of leaders re-embracing the Chimurenga spirit.
This
seems to be however the opposite of what has been prevailing. With selfishness
that is alleged to have been demonstrated, there are not many leaders who can
sacrifice and that will be their downfall. Change is inevitable and the sad
truth is that most of the times there will be sacrifice in change which has
begun to be demonstrated in the many rising activist groups. Many are now
showing attitudes of sacrifice to rise and rebel against one of the most feared
government in Africa. Peace loving Zimbabweans who were known to be educated
and civilized enough to avoid violence and protests are now seen all over with
the stories of protests against the national pledge, Beitbridge riots and the
HICC demonstrations against the Vice President that were seen on the social
media as few of the isolated cases.
He
who is willing to demonstrate leadership for what it is .....PASSION....that
manifests in ..,.SACRIFICE....will win the war and create a new social
contract. This is why we see a government that is accused of lacking PASSION to
demonstrate, pointing people backwards to a point in their history where PASSION
was demonstrated back in the days in the Chimurenga, whenever they want to reaffirm
commitment to the social contract. Whoever is willing to demonstrate PASSION
through SACRIFICE, will make a new social contract. It is in an open field and
everyone has an equal opportunity. It is my call for a demonstration of Kingdom
of God based leadership that I am called to stand for without any political
affiliation if ever there is going to be a successful Zimbabwe.
I
will present Kingdom based examples of what is needed by whoever will stir the
ship of the masses in their favour. This is what they have to know for a better
future of African politics if Zimbabwe and Africa are going to produce ideal
governments that will fulfill their mandate. The mandate of government is
creating the optimum environment that will allow citizens opportunities for maximum
fruitfulness, productivity and maximization of potential.
The
Kingdom Constitution shows the King of Kings teaching leadership and governance
wisdom. Jesus got the social contract through his sacrifice on the cross and it
is his ministers who embrace this attitude who will make an impact that lasts
long....fruit that remains. Scripture
clearly presents it saying:
Let this mind be in
you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who,
being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took
upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he
humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the
cross. Wherefore God also hath highly
exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: [Philippians 2:
5-9]
No
wonder why Jesus himself teaching leadership that will always make kingdom
impact and always having followers said;
If any man will
come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow
me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his
life for my sake, the same shall save it. [Luke 9: 23-24]
Leadership
is demonstrated by the Chimurenga spirit of self-sacrifice that thinks generationally
of legacy and creating an inheritance for the children and children’s children.
This is an assessment of a Kingdom Citizen who is not taking sides, without
political interests but with a heart for a better Africa, called to advance the
Kingdom of God culture and values to the 7 mountains that influence the lives
of people which are; Politics, Arts, Media, Business, Education, Religion and
Family.
